Dr. Sergio Verboonen

Dr. Sergio Verboonen has dedicated the last 14 years of his professional career as a Bariatric Surgeon to the understanding and the treatment of obesity, with an experience of more than 6,000 bariatric laparoscopic procedures in Mexico including: gastric ballon, gastric banding, gastric plication, gastric sleeves, mini gastric bypass and full gastric bypass operations, he is one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons world wide.

Dr. Jaime Ponce de León


Dr. Jaime Ponce has been practicing surgery for the past 19 years. He received his Medical Doctor Degree in 1991 from Saint Nicholas University in the Mexican State of Hidalgo as a General Surgeon. After that, he made a 4 year residency in Tijuana’s General Hospital where he obtained his speciality as a gastroenterologist surgeon. By 1995, Dr. Ponce was certified to practice laparoscopic surgery. He got his certification from the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery in 1997, and since then he has attended many courses as a student and also as a teacher, earning the respect from his peers, as well as his patients. Dr. James P.L. has such an ability and technique that he constantly gets invitations to speak at surgery events to pass on his knowledge. He is recognized as one of the leading bariatric surgeons in northwestern Mexico. He received authorization to perform Obesity Surgery with Gastric Bypass and Lap-Band from the Mexican Society of Obesity Surgeons in 2004 after having received formal training and authorization in 2001 directly from Bio Centrics Corporation. Dr. Ponce is currently Chief Surgeon at various Baja Hospitals, and Mexico Extreme Makeover, performing an average of 4 to 6 surgeries per day, he has a very high success rate
